The Dombivli-Thane Bridge, also known as the Mankoli-Motagaon bridge, is a pivotal infrastructure project serving the residents of the Kalyan-Dombivli region. Presently, there are two heavily congested routes connecting Dombivli to Mumbai: one via Dombivli-Mumbra-Thane-Mulund-NH3-Mumbai Fort, and the other through Dombivli-Kalyan-Bhiwandi-Bypass-NH3-Mumbai. Commuting from Dombivli to Kalyan can consume up to 2 hours during peak traffic. Therefore, the bridge aims to alleviate traffic congestion and drastically reduce the Dombivli to Thane commute time to just half an hour, while also relieving traffic pressure on the two longer routes. Spanning six lanes, the bridge is under construction across the creek between Motagaon in Dombivli and Mankoli in Bhiwandi. This bridge enhances connectivity between Dombivli, Kalyan, Bhiwandi, and Thane, offering significant relief to the numerous commuters traveling to Thane, Bhiwandi, Mulund, and other parts of Mumbai.
